Andrea Miles is a native of Western Massachusetts, a graduate of Cornell University, a novelist, and a mother. With a large blended family of seven (four kids in South Hadley Schools, plus an adult stepson attending college in Boston), she and her husband Charles stay closely involved in the schools and other activities around town.
She has been a resident of South Hadley since 2013. Andrea loves to tell everyone she meets that she loves South Hadley because it has the character and feel of a small town, combined with the cultural opportunities of a college town.
Even though she’s relatively new to South Hadley, Andrea has deep roots in the community and in the area. Her great-grandparents owned the venerable Kentfield Hardware in Amherst, and her parents have lived in Belchertown since the early 1980s, where Andrea graduated from high school. Brenda Aldrich, Andrea’s mother, has served many years on the Belchertown Selectboard.
Andrea is the author of fourteen novels (she writes under the pen name Andrea Randall) and her husband is a computer programmer at a manufacturing company in central Massachusetts.
Andrea believes in honest, intentional listening and working toward consensus — reaching out and discovering why people disagree and working on pragmatic solutions.
